Annual Report 2009
Net profit of one million Swiss francs (SFr) thanks to our expansion projects!
Our tremendous effort has paid off: our major expansion plans are no longer at the project stage. Instead, they have now gone into operation and are busy delivering the hoped for success. Evidence of this not only takes the form of the improvement in the Group’s financial results, but also in our winning of the 2010 Aargau Entrepreneur Prize.
Consolidated revenues for the Kurzentrum Rheinfelden Group rose during the 2009 financial year by a very healthy seven million francs, or 21.8 % to SFr 40.1 million, taking Group annual sales above 40 million for the first time in its history. Cashflow trebled since the previous year to
SFr 5.14 million or 13 % of annual sales. Following a loss of SFr 810,000.– in 2008, the Group is able to disclose consolidated net profits in 2009 of a robust one million francs.
In mid-February 2009, we opened the expanded buildings of sole uno. Its highlight is without doubt the World First of its unique intensive saltwater pool, although it also has other new features such as the fire and ice bath, tropical rainfall or the Alpine water-falls to further enhance the attractions of our World of Wellness. When we set ourselves the target of half a million people through our turnstiles, we thought we were being ambitious, but this target was outperformed by a wide margin. The new record number of visitors – 540,000 admissions – represents an increase over the previous year of more than 100,000 visitors. The ongoing work on a facelift for the internal pool is going to further increase the appeal of what we have to offer.
Continued success is being enjoyed by the ‘new’ Park Hotel with its DES SALINES residence. Accommodation and catering have both developed very favourably during the last financial year.
A problem area for the Park Hotel over the past 40 years has been the vacant expanses of building to the West of its site. There has admittedly been a high level of interest shown in turning these buildings into private apartments. However, we have remained consistently convinced that these buildings offer even greater po-tential for synergy, and this explains why we have not sought to sell them. And that reticence on our part has been worth it: we have now sold the vacant hotel buildings to a group of private investors who are going to renovate them completely and will then be running a clinic, under the name of Alta Aesthetica for jaw surgery, tooth implantology and plastic surgery. This new offering will further underpin the importance of Rheinfelden as a wellness location and offers our company an extension range of new op-tions for cooperation. Without any exaggeration, we can now speak of offering an ideal solution.
