Sauna facilities
Sweating cures have a long tradition dating back over a thousand years. Even the Greeks and Romans used the healing effect of sweating. Saunas are an ideal way to revitalise the body. Alternating between hot and cold strengthens the body's defences and boosts the circulation. In other words, saunas get the entire metabolic system moving at an optimum rate. A welcome "side-effect" is healthy, glowing skin. The relaxing effect of the heat, together with the pleasant atmosphere, restore balance to body and spirit.
The sole uno sauna facilities comprise three Finnish saunas (two of which are in block houses in the park), a bio-sauna (sanarium®), a steam bath, a rest area, an extensive cool-down area with various showers and a plunge pool as well as an attractive open-air area with recliners.
All sauna facilities are mixed. If you prefer separate-sex saunas, we recommend the saunas in the Belsola Gallery.
Please note: do not use the sauna when hungry or on a full stomach. Wash and dry yourself thoroughly. If your feet are cold, take a warm foot bath before entering the sauna. Each sauna visit should last 8 to 12 minutes, but no more than 15 (you can stay longer in the sanarium®). You can relax in seated or lying positions. Ensure that your feet are at the same height as the seat, as this reduces the strain on the veins. For reasons of hygiene, please sit or lie on a towel to prevent your skin from coming into contact with the wood. If you start to feel unwell in the sauna, we recommend that you leave the cabin immediately. Before leaving the sauna, sit upright for two minutes; this prevents your blood pressure from dropping when you stand up, which could make you feel as if you are going to black out. Then leave the cabin and inhale fresh air. Cool down with cold water. Regular sauna-users can cool down in the plunge pool. After using the sauna, either sit and relax or take a gentle walk. Cool down again if necessary. Wrap your towel around you or slip into your bathing robe and enjoy the cosy, warm feeling for a few minutes. You can then start the next sauna visit with a warm foot bath. Drink plenty of mineral water after bathing to compensate for the loss of fluids. This is both healthy and refreshing.
